Rob Kessler is the best fishing guide that has ever lived!!
Have fished with Rob in the Florida Keys and in Ennis. As Dave said above, he is the best fishing guide. His ability to communicate how to read the water, how to place the line, with lots of patience and humor will keep Ron and I coming back to him wherever he may be! Thanks Rob for a great time…we will see you soon!!
I have been fishing with Rob in Montana and key west Florida he’s by far the best guide I have had he knows where the fish are and his advise on what to do makes a huge difference in catching the big ones! Book a trip in Montana or the keys you won’t be disappointed
I have been fishing with Rob in both Key West and Montana for a number of years. I am a fly fishing fanatic and have fished all over for all kinds of fish. Rhode Island for stripers, Vermont for big browns, Pennsylvania for brookies, many rivers in Montana, Belize for tarpon, Alaska for monster rainbows. Rob is the best. He got me hooked up to an 80 pound tarpon on my very first cast in Key West. He knows the water and he knows the fish. Sometimes I think that he must actually have a financial deal with the fish since he can always find them when others may not. He can’t always control the weather (not sure why not), but he sure can get on the fish regardless.
If you want to catch fish and have a fun day on the water, Rob is the guy who will show you the way. I have fished with Rob when others would not have been able to catch fish because of bad weather. Rob would change our flies over and over until he found what the fish were looking for. He rowed the boat one day for us in the late fall when an unusual cold blizzard like weather event hit us. Rob continued to row even when his hands had to be about frozen. We were able to keep catching fish in those conditions because of Robs knowledge of the river. He proved to us he is a hard core fishing guide who makes a day on the water very special.
So my friends talked me into fishing the Madison River and I am a complete rookie. Dang, the guide Rob was awesome. He walked me through everything. We caught fish all day long. (He also fed us, lunch yummy). Rob was the best ever. My pseudo friends were looking to humiliate me and Rob saved the day. If you are thinking about Madison River go with Rob.
Rob came recommended to me and did I ever luck out! This guy knows where the fish are, will ensure your presentation is effective and keep you ON FISH!
Rob wastes no time, is very respectful and fun! I landed more fish in the first hour than I thought I would catch in the two days I was fishing in Montana. Rob kept it going and even showed me several tips. This guy is “very fishy” he is the best. Seriously. Call him you will not be disappointed.
For years Rob was my late husband’s favorite man to fish with in Ennis. I was never interested in fishing but I sure love to drift. When it came time for me to take a sentimental drift, it was Rob I asked. My husband always had a high regard for Rob’s fishing skills, I give him high marks as a human being.
I’ve had the pleasure of knowing Rob since 2009. He is very experienced and has a wonderful laid back approach to guiding. He has led me on 6-7 gratifying adventures. Rob knows where the fish are plentiful and makes each trip educational and rewarding. If you’re looking for a stress free exhilarating experience, Rob is your man. He’ll get your toes wet! 🙂
You wont find a better fishing experience anywhere else! Robs a fishing Guru, knows the water like the back of his hand, and knows exactly where the fish are! Plus he’s way fun to be around and takes great care of you! Rob is hands down the best choice if your looking for a guide! I highly recommend booking him!
I have been fishing with Rob on The Madison for the last 5 years and every year the float gets better and better. I cannot recommend a better choice for a guide. Rob is a true professional. In addition to the amount of fish you will catch, Rob treats you as if he has fished with you for years. It is by far the best float I have ever had in terms of fish caught and having a blast while fishing. Rob will stop at nothing to make sure your experience will be one you will always remember. If you have ever wanted to fish Montana, Book Rob!
we’ve been fishing with rob for several years now, and he has become as much a friend as a fishing guide. good humor, a keen sense of what works, and a high work ethic: all major attributes to insuring an enjoyable time on the river. his professionalism and joy of the sport is unquestionable, but his friendship was most valuable on our most recent trip with him. as we were putting in that morning we received the news from back home that our beloved dog had been taken so suddenly ill that she needed to be put to sleep. we were inconsolably heartbroken and rob showed such genuine caring respect for our feelings. he kindly offered to cancel the float, an offer we greatly appreciated but declined, and he still managed to give us a quietly pleasant day. catching fish with him is great–and has been guaranteed so far!–but nothing will surpass the friendship of that day. we’ll see him in july, and can’t wait to catch up and catch fish!
I have fished with Rob for the last five years. I follow him from Montana to Key West. The guy is the most enjoyable guide you could ever hope for. Great with beginners like my wife, and always full of pointers to make me a better fisherman. Simply can’t say enough about his enthusiasm and professionalism. Couldn’t ask for a better guide.
First day Tarpon fishing, which I learned, is like bow elk hunting on the water. You have to become a Tarpon. Rob knows and respects the fish, what they do, where they are. He has keen eyes into the water. He is a patient instructor and we got into some loners and big schools of big fish, with ease and in the natural flow of the place on the Gulf side of the keys, out of Key West. Amazing waters, colors, scenes, fish and hunting. The finest equipment, knowledge and easy approach. If I knew what I was doing in the heat of the strike, I would have had several +70 pounders on my first day out. To see them turn to your fly and flash is like like nothing else. They are huge. Fishing, hunting at it’s finest. There will be other days with Rob on the next trip from Reno.
We’ve been fishing with Rob for four years now. He does all the little things that really differentiate him from the rest – getting to the put ins early, teaching (casting, presentation, spotting fishy water, fly selection), and most importantly keeping things fun. Other descriptors: professional, skilled, patient, genuine, dedicated to his clients, kind, treats your outing as a team effort to get into some fish. And you’ll be hard pressed to find anyone that rows harder to get you into the right spots in the river. Hoping to follow him to Key West next..
I fished with Rob three days this past week in Key West. He was great and passed on a lot of tips and recommendations that will help me in future trips. We saw a lot of tarpon despite very tough weather and enjoyed jumping two and landing one on one of our days. Plan to repeat with Rob in 2015.
I’ve been with Rob on the Madison several times now (and just booked him for 2014!) and I have no doubt he is the hardest working guide on the river. Having the knowledge of where the fish are and what they are hitting on is important and Rob’s knowledge of the rivers near Ennis is incredible. Just as important is the work on the oars to put fisherman in the right spot time and again. I’m always amazed how hard Rob works the boat to make sure his clients have success in landing picture worthy fish. If you want a great guide that works his hardest to help you land fish, and to have a lot of fun in the process than Rob is the guide you are looking for.
My dad and I fished the Madison for the first time with Rob in 2013. Simply put…Rob is an excellent and personable guide! His knowledge of the water and instinct for “the spot” where trout are holding is unreal! Rob is a patient guide who gauges the ability of his clients and matches their skill to the pace of the float all the while challenging them to up their game. You’re a better fisherman when the days fishing comes to an end. We’ll be fishing with Rob again…no doubt!
